Super Rugby Aupiki: Hurricanes Poua beat Chiefs Manawa to close in on grand final berth

Hurricanes Poua defeated Chiefs Manawa 47-33, moving closer to their first Super Rugby Aupiki grand final appearance. The team has seen a significant turnaround after a difficult start to their season.
Why it matters
The result marks a significant competitive milestone for the Hurricanes Poua in the developing landscape of women's professional rugby.
Four wins in four weeks have Hurricanes Poua on the verge of entering uncharted territory.
With a patchy 47-33 win over Chiefs Manawa in Upper Hutt on Saturday afternoon, the Poua moved a step closer to their first Super Rugby Aupiki grand final appearance.
After claiming just three wins across their first four seasons in the competition and losing back-to-back games to begin their campaign this year, the Poua have been the story of the season.
The win moved them into second on the ladder, however the Blues Women can still overtake them if they beat the competition-leading Matatū in Christchurch.
The Poua ran riot in the first half against Chiefs Manawa, who have struggled throughout the season and came into the contest with several key players unavailable, to hold a 42-19 lead at halftime.
