While the coastal areas could find some solace from the sea breeze during the day, the interior parts were reeling under baking heat, forcing the people to pray for heavy downpour.
The prayer got answered finally on Friday afternoon with sharp showers lashing Tirunelveli and Palayamkottai for more than 30 minutes leading to water stagnation along the roads.
