A group of students, wearing uniforms of the government schools at Kodali near Jayankondam staged a protest on Saturday along with the residents of the village, demanding the closure of a Tasmac outlet.
Claiming that the presence of the outlet had made several people addicted to liquor, the protesters blocked the traffic at Kodali on Anaikarai and Kodalikaruppur road. On information, the T. Palur police and the Tasmac officials rushed to the spot and began negotiation with the protesters.
