Students involved in NEET paper leak agitation facing police crackdown, says AISA

The All India Students’ Association (AISA) has alleged a nationwide police crackdown on students protesting against the NEET paper leak. The group claims protesters are facing arbitrary detentions, intimidation, and surveillance via facial recognition technology.
Why it matters
It highlights ongoing tensions between student activist groups and the government regarding educational integrity and the right to protest.
The All India Students’ Association (AISA) on Tuesday alleged that protesters involved in the agitation against the NEET paper leak are facing a police crackdown across the country.
The students’ body claimed that multiple SFI activists, including former JNUSU president Dhananjay, AISA Bihar secretary Dipankar Mishra, and Patna University activists Divyam Kumar and Saba Afreen, have been arrested in Bihar.
AISA national president Neha, one of the prominent faces during the protest, said during a press conference at the Press Club of India: “We were assured that students protesting peacefully would not face repression. However, what we have witnessed is continued arrests, arbitrary detentions and intimidation of students across the country. The government must uphold its promises, release those detained and engage with the concerns of students.”
