Students of a State government-run welfare college in Nagarkurnool district staged a protest on Friday alleging harassment by two teachers after learning that an Intermediate first-year student had died by suicide four days earlier in his home village.

The student, Bharat, was pursuing CEC first year at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule College on Sripuram Road which is under Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society. He died by suicide at his residence in Balmoor on September 14.

No complaint was lodged with the police following his death and his final rites were subsequently completed.

However, when students came to the college on Friday and learnt about Bharat’s death, they raised allegations against two teachers, Prabhakar and Shankar Reddy, accusing them of harassing students.
