A Class XI student sustained a head injury after a portion of a plaster on the ceiling fell on her in a classroom at the Government Higher Secondary School in Melathur, near Tambaram, on Wednesday.
The injured student, identified as Joy Mercy, 15, was admitted to a private hospital, where she received five stitches for the injury.
The incident occurred during break, when 44 students of the classroom were outside. Joy Mercy had stayed back to arrange her books when a portion of the ceiling suddenly gave way and fell on her, leaving her injured.
