A 19-year-old student was allegedly assaulted for reporting drug abuse at Thodupuzha in Idukki district.
The victim, a Kumily resident enrolled in a laptop and mobile repair course in Thodupuzha, lived in a hostel with 13 students in three rooms. After noticing three students using ganja, he informed the institute’s faculty.
The teachers instructed him to record video evidence of the drug use. Following their instructions, he recorded a clip and handed it over to the officials. Although the faculty summoned and questioned the accused students, they took no disciplinary action and concealed the matter instead of informing the police.
After discovering the identity of their accuser, the students allegedly assaulted him and severely injured his genitals.
