NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has filed a chargesheet in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 10-year-old girl in south Delhi’s Mehrauli in June. According to the chargesheet, the accused allegedly did not kill the girl immediately after sexually assaulting her.He initially planned to bring her back but decided to kill her after fearing that she might inform her parents about the assault.The chargesheet, which was filed on Friday, runs into more than 500 pages and includes statements from over 30 witnesses.Basu Kumar Singh, 25, is the sole accused named in the case. He has been charged under provisions relating to rape, murder and kidnapping, besides sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and other relevant laws.Police said Singh was waiting near CDR Chowk when he spotted the girl and allegedly abducted her.
