The Communist Party of India has requested the Election Department to strengthen surveillance in Thattanchavady constituency following complaints of distribution of money and gifts to voters for the October 6 bypoll.
CPI secretary and party candidate for Thattanchavady bypoll A. M. Saleem in a memorandum to Chief Electoral Officer ASPS Ravi Prakash said the recent seizure of gold worth around ₹3.62 crore, ₹1.78 crore in cash and 181 litres of unaccounted liquor pointed towards the attempts being made to lure voters.
