Strait of Hormuz security incident: 2 Filipino seafarers dead
Two Filipino seafarers were killed after their crude oil vessel, the SIDR, was struck by projectiles near the Strait of Hormuz. The Department of Migrant Workers is coordinating the repatriation of the remaining crew as the region remains under a high-risk red alert.

MANILA, Philippines — After a security incident in the Strait of Hormuz, two Filipino seafarers have died. The deaths were confirmed by a Saudi Arabian shipping company on Wednesday.
Its crude oil vessel SIDR was caught up in a security incident prior to traversing the Strait of Hormuz on Aug. 31, at 11:40 a.m. (Philippine time), said Bahri, the shipping company.
“It is with profound sadness that Bahri confirms the loss of two of its Filipino seafarers as a result of the incident,” the company said in a statement.

In a press briefing on Wednesday evening, Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac corroborated the statement of Bahri.
