NEW DELHI: Domestic equity markets will remain closed on Tuesday, October 20, for Dussehra, giving investors a break from regular trading on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The festival is listed as a full trading holiday in the 2026 market calendar.Investors will not be able to buy or sell shares on either exchange during the regular session. Trading in equity derivatives will also remain suspended for the day.The holiday comes after a sharp sell-off on Dalal Street on Monday, when weak private bank stocks, disappointing corporate earnings and rising crude oil prices weighed on investor sentiment. Nifty50 declined 257.20 points, or 1.11%, to close at 22,888.95 while BSE Sensex fell 876.37 points, or 1.17%, to settle at 73,852.90.Selling pressure was broad-based, with almost all sectoral indices on NSE ending in the red.
