Stock futures fell early Monday as investors monitored a major shakeup in the pipeline for artificial intelligence initial public offerings amid growing safety concerns, along with the latest oil moves.
S&P 500 futures lost 0.8% as of 5:37 a.m. ET, while Nasdaq-100 futures tumbled 1.81%. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 0.27%.
In Europe, bourses traded mostly lower, with the pan-European Stoxx 600 index down by around 0.3%. Energy stocks were a bright spot, with the UK's FTSE 100 trading 0.5% higher, helped by oil majors BP and Shell .
In Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 closed 0.81% lower, while South Korea's Kospi fell 3.26%. Australia's benchmark S&P/ASX 200 inched 0.10% higher. Mainland China's CSI 300 closed 0.67% lower at 4,480.08.
Global AI-related stocks fell after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called for a slowdown of the development of AI capabilities, with other major tech figures backing the proposal.
