There was a question Steve Jobs said he asked himself every morning: If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?That question became one of the most powerful ideas in his 2005 Stanford commencement speech. Jobs was speaking to graduating students, but his message was not really about careers alone. It was about the limited nature of time and the danger of allowing other people's expectations to decide how we spend it.“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life,” Jobs told the graduates.He followed the thought with another warning: “Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice.”The words carried particular weight because Jobs had recently faced a cancer diagnosis.
