Status Yellow wind warning in effect for Donegal and Mayo

Met Éireann has delayed the rollout of a new, more localized weather-warning system until after this year, though some incremental improvements have been implemented. Meanwhile, power restoration efforts continue following the impact of Storm Boelo.
Why it matters
Effective weather warning systems are critical for public safety and emergency preparedness in regions prone to severe storms.
A plan for a new weather-warning system that focuses on more specific locations rather than counties will not be in place this year, but some changes that "support more localised weather warnings" as part of the plan have been implemented.
The new system, which had been planned for rollout by the end of this year, is still in the consulting phase, according to Met Éireann.
The changes will see polygons or shapes on maps that will be used to focus on specific areas rather than entire counties being issued with warnings.
