State will get drought relief only if our assessment report matches that of Centre, says CM

Karnataka will get proper drought relief only if our survey report matches the report by the Union government, said Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in Gadag on Tuesday.
“We are sending our field study report to the Centre, but our report should be aligned with the Centre’s report. The Union government’s drought assessment team should approve our report, and only then will the Centre provide proper financial assistance. On our side, we have taken all the steps we can, including announcing interim relief,’’ he told reporters.
“The State government has before it two separate lists of drought-hit taluks. District Ministers have visited villages and prepared a list of drought-hit taluks in their districts. Officers have also conducted surveys and prepared lists. We will study both these lists and prepare the second list of drought-hit taluks. We have already released one list,’’ he said.
