The State government has proposed increasing free treatment coverage ₹2.5 lakh for accident victims, Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader said in Mangaluru on Wednesday.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Khader said the Union government had launched the PM-Road Accident Victims Hospitalization and Assured Treatment (RAHAT) scheme, modelled on the State government’s Mukhyamantri Santwana Harish Scheme to provide free treatment of up to ₹1.5 lakh for accident victims for a period of one week from the time of admission to hospital. “Due to technical reasons, including those related to enrolment, not many have made use of the PM RAHAT scheme in the State,” Mr. Khader said.
