State gearing up for World Bank assistance of ₹2,000 cr. for digital governance projects

The State government is learnt to have received in principle approval from the World Bank for assisting the digital governance project. The bank, according to senior officials, has evinced keenness in extending assistance of US $ 217 million (approximately ₹2,000 crore) to the State government for promoting digital governance to ensure transparency in providing services to the people.
Senior officials said the project involves provision of a range of services as well as setting up an exclusive data centre. “It is basically aimed at complete digital transformation of the State,” a senior official told The Hindu . The State government has already uploaded the preliminary project report pertaining to the plans for extension of digital services to a wide array of fields.
