Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists were detained by the police on Thursday when they attempted to march to the Secretariat and “meet” Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Mr. Rao and several party workers were rounded up amid heavy police deployment and brief scuffles as they raised slogans against the State government, demanding the immediate release of pending fee reimbursement dues, claimed to be around ₹15,000 crore.
According to BJP leaders, the protest was aimed at submitting a representation to the Chief Minister, signed by over eight lakh students, seeking the clearance of long-pending fee reimbursement arrears. Mr. Rao said he had sought an appointment with the Chief Minister to hand over the memorandum, but was not granted one.
