Stalin on Monday (September 21, 2026) warned that his party would join hands with fishermen’s organisations and launch a massive protest if the State government remained “arrogant” and went ahead with its proposal to construct a new Secretariat at Pattinapakkam , a coastal habitat, in Chennai.
In a statement, he said the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government should pay heed to the “cry of fishermen” and withdraw the order for constructing the new Secretariat at Pattinapakkam. “Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay should openly announce the government’s decision and construct houses for the fishermen in the area,” he said, after representatives of fishermen’s organisations met him and sought his support.
