Stakeholders seek Shs500m to address health, education gaps in Sheema

The Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Association (AMDA) is seeking over Shs500 million to improve healthcare and education services in Nyabwinaaw2 Parish, Sheema District, where it plans to construct a girls’ dormitory and establish a computer laboratory.

The fundraising activities leading to this year’s AMDA Caravan kicked off on Sunday with the AMDA Caravan Run in Nyabwina, an initiative aimed at mobilising resources for the planned community interventions.

AMDA Chairperson Chris Gumisiriza said about 40 percent of the required funds had already been secured, while about 1,200 people registered for the run by purchasing participation kits.

“Several parishes expressed interest in hosting this year’s Caravan, but after evaluation, Nyabwina stood out because of its educational needs, healthcare gaps and geographical remoteness,” Mr Gumisiriza said.

He said the wider Caravan activities are expected to benefit about 6,000 people in Nyabwina and neighbouring communities through healthcare, education support, legal aid and community engagement.
