Stable Mindanao power supply until yearend seen
The Department of Energy reports that the Mindanao power grid has stabilized with sufficient generation capacity to meet demand through the end of 2026. Officials expect no further yellow or red alerts provided there are no major unplanned outages.

DAVAO CITY – The Mindanao power grid has returned to normal operating conditions, with sufficient generation capacity to meet electricity demand and maintain reserves through the rest of 2026, the Department of Energy (DOE) said on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
Dr. Erick George Uy, head of the Energy Utilization Management Division of the DOE-Mindanao Field Office, said in the Wednesday Media Forum at Ayala Malls Abreeza in Davao City that the Mindanao grid returned to normal conditions on Sept. 13.
Based on the current outlook, Uy said the grid is not expected to experience yellow or red alerts for the remainder of the year, provided normal operating conditions are maintained, and there are no significant unplanned outages, particularly at large baseload generating plants.
