St. Louis signs new four-year contract with Canadiens

Coached Montreal to Eastern Conference Final last season

Martin St. Louis signed a four-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens on Monday.

The new deal for the 51-year-old, who has been Canadiens coach since Feb. 9, 2022, begins immediately.

He had one year remaining on his original deal with the Canadiens, but that deal was ripped up with the new contract starting this season.

"Marty has done a terrific job leading our young team," Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes said. "He is a great communicator and teacher. We look forward to his continued efforts to mold this group into a championship-caliber team."

St. Louis was named a finalist for the Jack Adams Award , as NHL coach of the year in 2024-25, finishing third in the voting behind Spencer Carbery of the Washington Capitals and Scott Arniel of the Winnipeg Jets.
