Police investigating the death of a woman in the Perth suburb of St James have charged a man with murder in an alleged case of domestic violence.

Younis Qambari is accused of assaulting Kah Ming Tan in the days before she died, leaving her with extensive injuries that led to her death.

Mr Qambari will reappear in court next month after he faced Perth Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody.
