Srisailam temple to perform Varuna Yagam from August 7 to propitiate rain god

The Srisailam temple in India is organizing a five-day Varuna Yagam ritual starting August 7 to pray for rain. Due to the expected influx of devotees, the temple management has suspended several specific religious services and darshan timings during the event.

The Srisailam temple management will perform the Varuna Yaga Sahitha Sahasra Ghatabhishekam to propitiate the rain god from August 7 to 11.
Priests will perform the Varuna Yagam, along with the Paanchahnika Deeksha and Sahasra Ghatabhishekam for Lord Mallikarjuna, while special pujas will be performed for Goddess Bhramaramba. Rudra Homam, Varuna Sukta parayanams, Varuna japam and other rituals will be performed.
Temple board chairman P. Ramesh Naidu and Executive Officer M. Srinivasa Rao have invited devotees to take part in large numbers. On August 10, rituals will be performed for the Krishna, and abhishekams for Nandeeswara Swamy, the village deity Ankalamma and Bayalu Veerabhadra Swamy. The Purnahuti will be performed on August 11.
