Sports Minister announces task force to assess F1 revival in India
The Indian Sports Ministry has formed a 10-member task force to evaluate the feasibility of reviving Formula One racing in India. The committee will focus on resolving taxation issues and assessing the economic and tourism benefits of hosting a Grand Prix by 2028.

The Sports Ministry’s efforts to bring back Formula One to India and to revive and develop motorsports in the country has taken another step forward with the constitution of a 10-member task force to look into the matter.
The Task Force, to be headed by NITI Aayog Programme Director Yugal Kishore Joshi, will also have joint secretary Kunal, joint secretaries from the ministries of commerce and tourism, representatives from the Buddh and Madras International Circuits, state government representatives from UP and Maharashtra, FMSCI representative and a technical expert.
“While the main objective of the Task Force will be to make a comprehensive assessment of the existing motorsports ecosystem in the country, its main challenge would be to find ways to resolve the taxation-related issues that led to Formula One’s past departures from the country,” sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya said here on Tuesday.
