NEW DELHI: A 48-year-old woman was killed after she was allegedly hit by a speeding BMW while crossing a road at a zebra crossing in Delhi's Mehram Nagar on Tuesday afternoon, police said. The driver of the car has been apprehended.The deceased was identified as Jaiwanti, a resident of East Mehram Nagar who worked as a domestic help. The accident took place around noon when she was crossing the road to return home for lunch. The impact was severe and she died on the spot, police said.According to police, a PCR call was received about a car hitting a woman. A police team reached the spot and found that Jaiwanti had been shifted to DDU Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.The BMW driver was identified as 38-year-old Deepak, a resident of Pratap Nagar in Mandoli.
