Special veterinary health camps to be held in 216 village panchayats in Thoothukudi
The Department of Animal Husbandry in Thoothukudi is launching a series of special veterinary health camps across 216 village panchayats. These camps will provide free services, including vaccinations, infertility treatments, and minor surgeries to support local livestock farmers.

A special veterinary health and awareness camp was held at Kalankarai village near Thoothukudi on Monday, organised by the Department of Animal Husbandry.
Thoothukudi Collector Vishu Mahajan presided over the programme and inaugurated the camp.
He said that during the current financial year, special veterinary health and awareness camps would be conducted in 216 selected village panchayats across 12 panchayat unions in Thoothukudi district from September 2026 , at the rate of three camps in a month in each panchayat union.
He added that the camps will provide various veterinary health services free of cost, including treatment for sick livestock, mastitis management, deworming, vaccination against diseases, artificial insemination, infertility treatment, pregnancy diagnosis and other minor surgical procedures.
