Sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Thursday (July 16, 2026) arrested a Special Sub-Inspector (SSI) in Coimbatore city for demanding and accepting ₹70,000 as bribe from a couple.
The arrested has been identified as Boopathy, an SSI attached to Kattoor police station of the Coimbatore City Police. DVAC sources said that Boopathy had taken two mobile phones of a woman and her husband from Tirunelveli into custody during the investigation of a complaint against them.
