A Special Sub-Inspector of Alangayam Police Station in Tirupathur district was arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Monday after he was caught allegedly accepting a ₹5,000 bribe from a motorist.
According to the DVAC, the complainant, Manjunathan of Ambur, was involved in a road accident while driving his four-wheeler. Ramakrishnan, the Special Sub-Inspector in charge of Alangayam Police Station, allegedly demanded ₹5,000 to send the vehicle for inspection by the Motor Vehicle Inspector and to release the complainant on station bail.
