Special holidays declared in 5 areas
The Philippine government has declared special non-working holidays in five specific areas to allow residents to participate in local festivals and commemorative events. These proclamations were signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto in late August.

MANILA, Philippines - Malaca ang has declared special non-working days in five areas to allow residents to participate in local festivals and commemorative activities.
Proclamation 1402 declared Sept. 16 a special non-working day in Piddig, Ilocos Norte for the commemoration of the Basi Revolt of 1807.
Sept. 10 will be a holiday in Polomolok, South Cotabato for the celebration of the 23rd Polomolok Festival, according to Proclamation 1403.
Proclamations 1405 and 1406 declared Sept. 8 a special non-working day in Calbayog, Samar and Makilala, Cotabato, respectively.
The holiday in Calbayog will allow people to celebrate the Hadang Festival, while the town of Makilala will commemorate its 72nd founding anniversary.
Meanwhile, Proclamation 1407 declared Aug. 28, a special non-working day in Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur, in lieu of today, Aug. 29, for the celebration of the Padul-os Festival.
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed the proclamations on Aug. 26.
