Special drive launched to enrol eligible voters left out during SIR in Puducherry

The Puducherry Election Department has launched a special drive to register eligible voters who were missed during the recent Special Intensive Revision. Officials are conducting house-to-house verifications to ensure accurate electoral rolls.

The Puducherry Election Department has commenced a special drive for the enrolment of eligible voters who were left out of the electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise undertaken in the Union Territory.
In a release, Chief Electoral Officer A.S.P.S. Ravi Prakash said the Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed Chief Electoral Officers, District Election Officers, and Electoral Registration Officers in States and UTs, where the SIR exercise has been completed, to undertake a special drive for fresh enrolment.
The special drive has been launched to enrol eligible persons whose names may have been left out of the electoral roll during or after the SIR, including those of young and first-time voters. Accordingly, the special drive has been initiated to identify and facilitate the enrolment of all eligible persons who are not presently included in the electoral roll, he said.
