Special Ayudha Puja market at Koyambedu

A temporary market has been established in Chennai's Koyambedu Wholesale Market Complex to provide festival essentials for the upcoming Ayudha Puja. The facility includes infrastructure for traffic management and public amenities to support the expected surge in shoppers.
Why it matters
Organized temporary markets are essential for managing large-scale public demand during major cultural festivals in urban centers.
A special Ayudha Puja market will be held in the parking area at the Food Grains Market in the Koyambedu Wholesale Market Complex from October 14 to 23 with a wide range of festival essentials to shoppers ahead of the celebrations.
The market will sell items including aval (flattened rice), pori (puffed rice), banana saplings, torans, pumpkins and other puja-related materials that witness increased demand during the festival season, according to a press release.
The temporary marketplace is expected to cater to large numbers of retailers and members of the public purchasing goods for Ayudha Puja observances.
