Space Science Act and Agency in the Works
Namibia is in the process of drafting legislation to regulate and promote space science and technology. The initiative aims to foster research, industrial development, and international cooperation in the space sector.

Namibia is developing legislation for participating in the realm of space science and the technology that is developed around it.
The public engagement process was conducted by the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts & Culture (MEIYSAC).
The Khomas region’s engagement took place in early August, which included stakeholders from both public and private institutions.
The bill under development is geared to ‘promote the use of space science and technology and cooperation in space-related activities’.
Much of the ambition of the bill is to allow for research and development, and possible commercialisation.
“Fostering research in space science to support the creation of an environment conducive to industrial development in space technologies within the framework of national government policy,” the bill describes.
