The State government’s special focus on sports and games will enable young footballers from North Andhra districts to have a bright future, Andhra Pradesh Football Association’s Vizianagaram district secretary Vummita Mahalakshmi Rao has stated in a release on Wednesday.

He announced that the association will conduct elections for the State Players’ Association (SPA) on October 11, while suggesting that eligible players participate in the elections.

The association chalked out the eligibility criteria for voting rights, said men and women footballers above 18 years should have represented the State senior-level teams at least once, and those who played at least five matches in their respective age groups can be given voting rights. Besides, players who represented reputed clubs and leagues under the All India Football Federation (AIFF) will also be eligible for voting rights, read the release.
