Allegations of electoral roll manipulation strike at the core of democratic integrity and can lead to significant political instability and legal challenges.
Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress president and former Jayanagar MLA Sowmya Reddy has lodged a complaint with the police alleging irregularities in the deletion of voters from electoral rolls in the Jayanagar Assembly constituency.
In her complaint on Monday, Ms. Reddy alleged that more than 4,327 voters had been removed from the electoral rolls in Ward no. 171 (Gurrapanapalya) alone, while 5,698 Form-7 applications seeking deletion of names had reportedly been submitted across the constituency.
She alleged that the Form-7 applications were submitted at the request of a person named Lokesh, who, according to the complaint, was working for BJP leader and Ward no. 171 representative C.K. Ramamurthy.
