Southwest monsoon: Karnataka receives 29% deficit rainfall
Karnataka is facing a 29% deficit in southwest monsoon rainfall for the period between June 1 and August 4, despite recent heavy rains. While some districts have received normal rainfall, the majority of the state remains in a deficit category.

Though there is much relief, particularly in the Cauvery basin, following the revival of the monsoon over the past week, statistics show that Karnataka has received a -29% southwest monsoon rainfall departure between June 1 and August 4.
With several parts of the State receiving heavy rainfall in recent days, the first four days of August recorded 49 mm of rainfall against the normal 35 mm, with a departure of +39%.
According to data from the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), the State recorded 357 mm of rainfall against the normal 506 mm between June 1 and August 4, representing a departure of -28%.
