Southern Railway has granted General Alignment and Drawing (GAD) approval for the construction of a new railway overbridge at Valakode, N.K. Premachandran, MP, has said after a high-level meeting of officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Southern Railway, and the State Public Works Department (PWD) National Highway division at the Punalur Rest House on Friday (September 4, 2026). The meeting was attended by MLAs C. Ajayaprasad and M.M. Naseer, Punalur municipal chairperson M.A. Rajagopal, and District Collector Anie Jula Thomas.
