South Western Railway records highest-ever freight loading in July
South Western Railway achieved its highest-ever freight loading for July, moving 4.69 million tonnes of goods. The zone also reported a 5.21% increase in gross revenue compared to the previous year, driven largely by iron ore and steel transport.

South Western Railway (SWR) registered its highest-ever freight loading for the month of July, handling 4.69 million tonnes (MT) of originating freight, an increase of 11.7% over the 4.2 MT recorded in the corresponding month last year.
According to a press statement issued by SWR, the zone’s cumulative freight loading during the financial year 2026-27 up to July stood at 17.19 MT, compared with 16.27 MT during the corresponding period of the previous financial year, registering a growth of 5.7%. The cumulative loading is the highest achieved by the zone up to July since its inception.
