Sony Launches DP7 and DP5 External Controllers for Cinema Line Cameras

Sony has announced the DP7 and DP5, two external controllers integrating camera control and monitoring for use with Sony’s Cinema Line cameras. At launch, both are compatible with the FX5, FX3, FX2, and FX30.

Both controllers feature a “BIG6” home screen for adjusting focus with compatible autofocus lenses, zoom with compatible power zoom lenses, and exposure settings from the monitor side when positioned away from the camera. Physical controls include a control knob, multi-function dials, and assignable buttons alongside touch operation. The controllers support HDMI input and output for wired monitoring, and wireless connection with select compatible third-party transmitters. The DP7 additionally supports 12G-SDI connection and bidirectional SDI-to-HDMI conversion.
