Sony has introduced the FE 100-400mm F5.6-8 OSS, a new super-telephoto zoom lens for full-frame Alpha E-mount cameras.
The lens covers a 100mm to 400mm focal range while weighing about 654g, making it easier to carry for wildlife, sports, train, aircraft, and outdoor photography.
Its optical design uses two ED glass elements and two aspherical elements to help reduce chromatic and other optical issues across the zoom range. It also uses a 9-blade circular aperture for softer background blur.
For autofocus, the lens uses a linear motor designed for fast and quiet focusing. When paired with the Sony α9 III, it can support continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking at up to around 120fps.
