MOGADISHU, September 27, 2026 Somalia’s First Instance Military Court on Saturday sentenced former soldier Abdi Adan Ibrahim, known as “Soddon,” to death by firing squad after convicting him of killing Yusuf Ahmed Abdi, who was travelling as a passenger in a tuk-tuk. The incident occurred on July 26, 2026, in the Iga-daba-geey neighbourhood of Garasbaley district, according to the court’s chairman, Colonel Hassan Ali Nur Shuute. According to the prosecution, the victim, a construction worker, had finished work that afternoon and hired a tuk-tuk to take him home. The defendant, who was standing by the roadside, allegedly stopped the vehicle and asked the driver for a ride.
