Sokoto APC replies Dan Iya over demand for disclosure of FAAC allocations

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, announced that the party will not field a presidential candidate for the 2027 election. The party intends to focus on legislative and state-level positions while preparing for a stronger presidential run in 2031.
Why it matters
This strategic shift significantly alters the political landscape for the 2027 Nigerian presidential election by removing a notable party from the national contest.
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) will soon announce a frontline presidential candidate from another political platform to adopt for the 2027 presidential election, according to its founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Aniebonam explained that prolonged litigation over the party’s national leadership left the platform with insufficient time to process a standard-bearer capable of matching major contenders.
He noted that following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) recognition of the NNPP leadership led by Dr. Agbo Major as National Chairman, the party utilized a placeholder candidate while actively shopping for a presidential contender with character and capacity.
