Social simulations with large language model risk Utopian illusion
A new study published in Nature suggests that large language models (LLMs) fail to accurately simulate human behavior, instead producing 'Utopian' and idealized interactions. Researchers found that these models exhibit social biases that lack the complexity and variability of real-world human social life.
Why it matters
As LLMs are increasingly used for social science research and policy simulation, their tendency to produce biased, non-human results could lead to flawed scientific conclusions.
