The warden of a Social Justice Hostel for female students at Kumilanparappu near Chithode has been transferred following complaints from students about the poor quality of food served at the hostel.
Based on the complaints, Minister for Backward Classes Welfare V. Sampath Kumar conducted a surprise inspection of the hostel on Thursday (September 25, 2026). He checked whether food was being served according to the prescribed menu and inspected the quality of the cooked food and grocery items.
During the inspection, the Minister reprimanded hostel warden Kanchana for intervening during the inspection. He also inspected the basic amenities at the hostel and directed officials to take immediate action on the complaints submitted through the complaint box.
