Snap, formerly known as Snapchat, spun off Specs , the division responsible for its augmented reality (AR) glasses , early this year, and now it's ready to take pre-orders for the upcoming product, which is also called Specs, just to be confusing.

These are $2,195 standalone AR glasses that don't require a phone or computer connection to work. They have a see-through transparent display with a 51-degree field of view which apparently looks as big as a 115" screen would when viewed from about 10 feet away, a camera indicator light, "dual Snapdragon processors", and a magnetic 5-pin charging interface.

The glasses are made with a TR90 frame, and come in two sizes: 47mm narrow and 52mm wide. They feature voice and gesture controls, open-ear stereo speakers, six microphones, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and they're prescription-ready.
