Sketching Japan, an exhibition by B Ganesh Babu, underway at Bengaluru’s IIWC
Architect B Ganesh Babu is hosting an exhibition titled 'Sketching Japan' at the Indian Institute of World Culture in Bengaluru. The collection features 35 sketches that document his visual journey and appreciation for Japanese culture and architecture.

‘Sketching Japan – An Architect’s Visual Journey by B Ganesh Babu,’ reads the sign at the Indian Institute of World Culture’s (IIWC) art gallery. “I am an architect by profession, and sketching has long been my passion,” says Ganesh, as he shares anecdotes behind the 35 sketches on display.
The show is a culmination of two of Ganesh’s passions — sketching and everything Japanese, the language, the landscape and more.
“I was born in South Bengaluru and grew up studying in Basavanagudi. My interest in sketching began when I was in school. I enjoyed drawing cartoons, and a few of my early efforts were published in Kannada newspapers and magazines. Looking back, I feel fortunate that this early interest eventually led me towards architecture, a profession that gave me the opportunity to combine creativity, observation and sketching,” says Ganesh.
