Former Disney star Skai Jackson has issued a public apology following a storm of criticism over remarks she made about a visit to Kenya, insisting her words were taken out of context.

The backlash began after a viral interview clip resurfaced in July 2026 in which Jackson described a 2018 trip to a small village school in Kenya.
She claimed the teachers and children she met there could not afford mirrors, and that some of the kids had never seen their own reflections until she showed them their faces on her phone screen.
