City traffic police said Maria, 21, was a resident of Desiya Nagar Street in Old Washermenpet. She was riding her two-wheeler along with her six-year-old son Monish Adhav, riding pillion. As the motorist was travelling along Ennore Beach Road and passing Palagai Thottikuppam, an oil tanker lorry approaching from behind knocked down their vehicle. In the accident, the boy fell and was run over by the tanker. Even before the residents could react, the lorry sped from the scene.
