Six resolutions adopted by groups opposing kambala in Mysuru Dasara
A coalition of activist groups in Mysuru has formally protested the state government's plan to include kambala, a traditional coastal buffalo race, in the city's Dasara festivities. The committee argues that the event is culturally incompatible with Mysuru's heritage and has issued six resolutions calling for a focus on local art forms and administrative transparency.

Members of a Joint Action Committee comprising the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS), Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS), Parisarakkaagi Naavu , Team Mysuru, Kannada organisations, and some progressive groups staged a protest in Mysuru on July 18 against the State Government’s proposal to organise kambala (slush track buffalo race) as part of the Mysuru Dasara festivities.
The protest was held near Sathagalli, off the Outer Ring Road, where the government has proposed to conduct the traditional buffalo race during Dasara.
The committee, which has been opposing the proposal, reiterated that while kambala is a respected and popular traditional sport of the coastal Tulu Nadu region, it should not be included in Mysuru Dasara, as it is incompatible with the heritage, cultural identity and religious significance of the world-renowned festival.
