Six suspected burglars have been arrested after a dramatic police operation on a major freeway in Melbourne’s southeast. Police said two vehicles were stolen during an aggravated burglary at a Clonaig St property in Brighton East just after 5.30am on Tuesday. A resident was woken by noise inside the home before the offenders allegedly fled. The stolen vehicles were allegedly used in another home invasion at Hampton Park about 7.45am. No one was injured in either incident. One of the stolen vehicles, a Nissan Patrol, was spotted being driven erratically in Doveton about 8am, prompting a police pursuit involving the Air Wing. Police monitored the vehicle as it travelled through multiple eastern and southeastern suburbs before intercepting it on the Monash Freeway at Chadstone just after midday.
